From time to time you may want to find a booking in KennelBooker using its booking reference, for example a reference a customer quotes in an email or on the phone. You do this from the search bar at the top of every staff page in KennelBooker. Type the number from the reference, not the letters in front of it.
What a KennelBooker booking reference looks like
A booking's reference is shown as Booking Ref in the Booking Details panel on the booking page, for example KKB000079. It's made of a few letters followed by the booking number. The search bar only looks up bookings by the number, so for KKB000079 you type 79 (or 000079; the zeros in front don't matter).
How to search for a booking by its booking reference
Click in the search bar at the top of any page in KennelBooker. It says Search by Customer/Pet until you type in it.
Type the booking number, using digits only, for example 79.
Press Enter. On a phone, tap Search beside the search bar.
The Search page opens with a list of results. Each row shows a link to open it (for example View Boarding), the Type, the Ref, the Customer and some Details, such as the check-in date and length of stay.
Click the link on the row you want to open the booking.
What the booking reference search finds
When you type only digits, KennelBooker searches for:
Bookings with that booking number, for every service you offer (boarding, daycare, grooming, home stays, walks, drop-ins, training and so on).
Sales (point of sale transactions) with that number.
Customers whose landline or mobile number contains those digits.
Pets whose microchip number contains those digits.
So a short number can bring back more than one row. Check the Type column to pick the right one.
What the KennelBooker search bar doesn't do
It doesn't find a booking from the full reference with its letters, such as KKB000079. Anything with a letter, space or symbol in it searches your customers instead and opens the Customers page. Type the number on its own.
It doesn't search by date. To find bookings for a day, use the calendar or the Daily Overview.
Pet parents can't use it. It's only in the staff side of KennelBooker.
Booking reference search: frequently asked questions
How do I find a booking from its reference number?
In KennelBooker, type the number from the booking reference (digits only) into the search bar at the top of the page and press Enter. For reference KKB000079, type 79. The Search page lists the matching booking; click the View link on its row (for example View Boarding) to open it.
Do I need to type the letters at the start of the booking reference?
No. KennelBooker's search bar only looks up booking references by their number. If you include the letters, it searches your customers instead. Type just the digits, for example 79 for KKB000079.
Can I search for a customer from the same search bar?
Yes. Type a name, email address, postcode or pet name into the KennelBooker search bar and press Enter. Because it contains letters, it opens the Customers page with the matching customers.
Can I search by phone number?
Yes. Type the phone number as digits only, with no spaces or plus sign, into the KennelBooker search bar. The Search page lists customers whose landline or mobile contains those digits, along with any booking that has that number as its reference.
Can I search by microchip number?
Yes. Type the microchip number (digits only) into the KennelBooker search bar and press Enter. Pets whose microchip number contains those digits are listed on the Search page with a View Pet link.
Why does my search show more than one result?
KennelBooker's digits-only search checks booking numbers for every service, sale numbers, phone numbers and microchip numbers at the same time, so the same number can match a few things. Use the Type and Customer columns to pick the booking you want.
Can I search for a daycare or grooming booking by reference?
Yes. The KennelBooker booking reference search covers every service you have switched on, not just boarding. Type the number from the reference and the result shows the service in the Type column.
Booking reference search: common problems
I typed the booking reference and it opened the Customers page
The reference had letters in it, so KennelBooker searched your customers instead. Go back to the search bar and type only the number, for example 79 for KKB000079.
The Search page says "No search results found!"
No booking, sale, customer phone number or microchip matches the digits you typed. Check the number on the customer's confirmation email and try again with digits only. If the booking is for a service you have since switched off in your settings, it won't be found by the search.
I can't find the Search button on my phone
On a phone, the Search button sits beside the search bar at the top of the page. On a computer there's no button; press Enter after typing.
