You can add a link or button to your WordPress website that takes your customers (pet parents) straight to your personalised KennelBooker online booking portal, where they can register, manage their pets and request bookings. This article covers the WordPress block editor. You don't need a plugin.
Get your booking link or button code for WordPress
Go to Settings > Online Booking Portal (open the page). Under Online Booking Portal Integration you'll find:
Enable - Online Booking Portal/Mobile App: this must be switched on, or your link won't open the booking portal. If you change it, click Save.
Test Online Tool: click the Book Now button here to open your portal and see what your customers see.
Online Tool Button: ready-made HTML code for a blue Book Now button.
Direct Link Shortened: a shorter version of your link, ending in /login/ and your business's short code. Not every account has one. If yours doesn't, you won't see this field.
Direct Link: the full address of your booking portal. Every account has one.
The simplest route on WordPress is to copy your Direct Link (or Direct Link Shortened) and use it on a WordPress button, because the button then matches your website's theme. If you'd rather have the KennelBooker Book Now button, use the Online Tool Button code instead.
Add a WordPress button that links to KennelBooker (recommended)
Log in to WordPress and go to Pages. Open the page where you want the button.
Click the + (Block Inserter) and choose the Buttons block. You can also type /buttons on an empty line.
Type the button's text, for example Book Now.
With the button selected, click the Link icon in the toolbar and paste your Direct Link. Press Enter to apply it.
Click Preview to check the page, then save your changes.
Open the live page and click the button to make sure your booking portal opens.
Add the KennelBooker Book Now button to WordPress
Use this if you want the blue Book Now button rather than one in your theme's style.
On Settings > Online Booking Portal, copy all of the code in the Online Tool Button box.
In the code you copied, change http://www.kennelbooker.com/buttons to https://www.kennelbooker.com/buttons, so the button image loads on a secure website.
In WordPress, open your page, click the + and choose the Custom HTML block, or type /html on an empty line.
Paste the code into the block. In newer versions of WordPress, click the block's Edit HTML button to open the code window, paste the code there and click Update.
Click Preview to check the page, then save your changes. You should see the Book Now button on your website.
Add a KennelBooker link to your WordPress menu
Most older (classic) themes: go to Appearance > Menus, open Custom Links, paste your Direct Link into the URL box, enter the link text (for example Book Now), click Add to Menu, then save the menu.
Block themes: open the Navigation block in the site editor, click the +, choose Custom Link, paste your Direct Link and press Enter.
WordPress themes and page builders (such as Elementor) differ. If yours looks different, find the button or menu item's link field and paste your Direct Link into it.
What the WordPress integration doesn't do
There's no KennelBooker plugin for WordPress. The integration is a link or button that opens your booking portal.
The link doesn't change anything in KennelBooker. Bookings, customers and pets stay in your KennelBooker account, not in WordPress.
KennelBooker support can't make changes to your WordPress website. If a step doesn't match your screen, your theme or WordPress version may differ, so check with whoever looks after your website or the WordPress documentation.
WordPress integration: frequently asked questions
Where do I find my KennelBooker booking link for WordPress?
Your KennelBooker booking link is on Settings > Online Booking Portal, under Direct Link. Some accounts also have a shorter version under Direct Link Shortened. Both open the same booking portal, so you can use either one on your WordPress website.
Should I use the link or the button code on WordPress?
For WordPress, use the Direct Link on a WordPress Buttons block if you want the button to match your website. Use the Online Tool Button code in a Custom HTML block if you want KennelBooker's blue Book Now button. Both go to the same booking portal.
Can I add the booking button to more than one WordPress page?
Yes. You can use your KennelBooker link or Book Now button on as many WordPress pages as you like, and in your menu. Repeat the steps on each page.
Can I use my own button image on WordPress?
Yes. Add your own image or button in WordPress and point its link at your Direct Link from Settings > Online Booking Portal.
Can pet parents book from their phone through my WordPress site?
Yes. The WordPress link opens your KennelBooker booking portal in the phone's web browser. Pet parents who prefer the app can use the Pet Parent app instead. The download links and your Business Code are on Settings > Mobile App - IOS & Android.
WordPress integration: common problems
The Book Now button shows as a broken image on my WordPress site
The button image in the code should load over a secure address. In your Custom HTML block, check the image address starts with https://www.kennelbooker.com/buttons, not http://. Also check that you pasted the whole code, from the first <a to the last </a>.
WordPress shows the button code as text on my page
The KennelBooker button code has been pasted into a normal paragraph. Delete it and paste it into a Custom HTML block instead.
The WordPress link opens my website or Google instead of my booking portal
This happens when the online booking portal is switched off. Go to Settings > Online Booking Portal, switch on Enable - Online Booking Portal/Mobile App and click Save.
The WordPress link goes to an error or the wrong business
Copy your link again from Direct Link on Settings > Online Booking Portal and paste it over the old one. The whole link is needed, including the part after id=.
